PVC Hose Not Split but idles high

2006 ZX4 SES, 135k miles

So car has been idling high and kind of bangs into gear (automatic) since the Rpms are high.

My son said it made an odd noise the other day as well but once at home I really did not hear anything besides it not idling well. Not always even and a little high.

So I thought I could hear a little whistle when shutting off and thought it was the PVC hose as that is an issue with this car.

Got a PVC, Hose, Intake Gasket Set, and a new Thermostat (might as well while I there) and proceed to take that d**n intake off. Got the thing off last night and found that the PVC hose looks to be OK. I also found a good little mouse nest up under the front of the intake.

I still am going to install all the new stuff I bought since it has 135k on it. And I will use some degrease spray and carb clean on the intake itself.

However, I am at a lost for the high idle reason now.

I guess once it is all back together I will try the carb cleaner spray method on the vac lines to see if I can find a leak.

Any suggestions?

Did the high idle happen at the same time he heard the noise? Could have been a mouse falling out lol

I'd be looking close for chewing marks where the nest was, entirely possible to chew a vacuum leak.

While that hose typically leaks, not the only way to get one, the throttle bodies can cause trouble too.

^X2... and don't stop looking near the nest (if you don't find a hole in a hose or a bit-through plastic line nearby), the little critter was probably all over the inside of the engine bay at one time or another. Any vacuum line going to the IM is suspect.
