Shifting question

Wazzzzzupppppp everyone! I am new and this is my first post. I am humbled and excited to be here amongst all of you.

So my question has a few parts.

My car is a 2000 focus Spi Sohc automatic.

When it shifts it goes into 1st, 2nd, 3rd and that's it no 4th... Now I can do interstate driving but I can hear my motor is louder then it should be because it doesn't go into 4th gear...

1. Is the 4th gear also consider escape overdrive on this car?

2. I have a check engine light code P0760 which indicates a fault in shift solenoid C... Once I replace this solenoid will my car shirt into 4th and be able to cruise at normal "gas saving rpms" ?

Any help is awesome thanks

Typo on question 1. Is 4th gear on this car also considered overdrive as well? I need this 4th so I can save gas at higher speeds

Yes 4th is OD (overdrive).

Could be that solenoid but could be voltage issues in the wires to it too. Only one way to find out.

Most likely you will have to replace that solenoid, but first check the control wires leading in, as said above, to be sure you don't have a simpler issue. I'll guess, due to the commonality of failure, that the problem is the failed solenoid.

Yes, they come separately.

There's a couple places on ebay selling completely rebuilt valve bodies with solenoids checked/replaced for under $200. Not the cheapest way to go, but figure that's the most you should have to spend on it.
I know because I priced out solenoids alone (anywhere from $20 per solenoid on rockauto, to whole sets of the 6 solenoids in this transmission on ebay/amazon for around $90) and decided to buy a used valve body "from a good transmission" for $50 so I'd get a wire harness and a set of solenoids that I can test (and extra solenoids too).
On the bright side, it sounds like the band is working (controls 2nd and 4th) so the solenoid (or wiring) and a fluid flush will have you running again.
Band adjustment on these transmissions requires a special tool and procedure, it's not hard or expensive but if you want to own this car for a long time you might to read up on it and find a place that can do it (or buy the tool and do it yourself).
