No pcm connection help!!

I have an 01 focus with the spi and manual trans, i bought it and drove it home. it had a charging issue so i got a wrecker alternator which didn't fix the problem. i pulled apart the alternator pigtail checked the conections greased them and and dielectric greased them and stuck it back on went to start it again and it cranked and cranked and cranked so i stoped. After that i had nothing. From what i can tell i have the lines were the odo should be so i have no connectionto the pcm. I also cannot connect my scan code reader to it. Can anybody help me???

Moved to General Tech Chat

Usually lines in the odo mean the PCM is not getting power or ground.

Most common culprit is a SMALL ground wire to the harness off the battery negative terminal - easily missed if you didn't remember it was there.

Diode in the underhood fuse box is an odd possibility, you can swap with the less important one next to it for a test. They look like black blade type fuse, near the middle of the underhood box - marked on the lid for location.

No, don't have a pin out handy.

There are even picture of that wire posted in here, blk/orange maybe? Little thing falls down & disappears when it breaks off, unless you knew it was there it's not even easy to find.

Could be as simple as dirty battery post connections. Terminal connectors need to be removed, thoroughly wire brushed/sanded and reassembled and properly tightened.

Cleaned and reconnected all grounds/ power sources still no improvement. Definitely still have the orange and black wite there and it shows as being a good ground. Any other suggestions?
