keypad entry not working

The dealer installed keypad does not seem to work very well recently. I don't use it very much if that matters. I tried it the other day and it did not work at first, it worked later. It did not work today for me. Is there a battery in it that can be replaced? Is this covered under warranty ? Thanks

May well not be if not originally built into the car.

It's a Ford part installed on the new car at dealership. Accessories may be different?

The stick-on keypads are not serviceable.

Dealer-installed accessories are covered under warranty. Help Centre

Thanks, Tux. I remember a card in the owners manual with the code on it. I have to dig it out and see what it says. The dealer puts it on a lot of their cars. I don't like the looks of it too much.

It likely needs to simply be reprogrammed. If it's defunct, you can request that it be removed at the dealership. It's easy, but it's their toy.

I found the keypad on our old Windstar to be very useful, but it was a factory installed keypad, and doesn't stick out like the one on your car does. It was also hardwired, and didn't need any reprogramming. Push button start cars don't need keypads because you can't lock the keys in the car. I don't know if yours is a PB or not.

Push button cars can't take the accessory keypad because the frequency is different.

Mine is not a PB start. I can see where it would be use full if it worked. I never used it, that could be why it stopped working? When I saw it on most of the cars I thought it was hardwired into the door, I am glad it's not that way.
