2001 focus zx3 zetec manual transmission which oil???

replacing my clutch and cv joint, now i have some dumb question...

question 1: how do i know which transaxle i have: mtx75 or IB 5? ( i assume the mtx)
question 2: which oil do i use to refill the transaxle? manual says mercon V atf. Does it have another name cuz i couldn t find that at walmart.
I also read from my search on the site that it was wrong and should use something else? so lost...
any help is appreciated

ZX3 from '01 would have a zetec engine, and that mates with an MTX-75 transmission.

Owner's manual mention of Mercon for the trans. refers to the Automatic, with a manual it'll recommend the XT-M5-QS type (or any subsequent part number for the Ford manual trans. fluid).

That's a full synthetic trans. fluid, you only need TWO quarts for a complete fill (updated spec. on that to avoid buying another quart for a tenth or two).

You can find MANY debates here on alternatives, you need to be careful which alternative is chosen so I won't get into that debate again here.

the chiltons has mercon V atf in it for manual.
I was wondering about the 0.1 myself...good to know!
