svt gauges swap

I am looking to swap the svt gauges into a zx3 and i am wondering if anyone knows if all the connections for the AUX Gauges can be made at the gauge cluster or if i need to swap the svt valve cover and some under hood wiring also. Thanks for any help.

Take a look at this... How To: Use the SVT Gauge Cluster on a non-SVT Focus

Why would you need to swap a valve cover for gauges?

yes i seen that thread and was going to use it as a referance jut wanted to see if more people have done this. And the reason i said swap the valve cover was because there is a sensor on top of the svt cover that isnt on the stock zx3 cover and i was not sure if it was the oil temp sensor.

The part your probably referring to is the VCT solenoid and it bolts to the head, nothing sensor like is on it. The aux gauges are "fake", the PCM makes calculations from the coolant temp, RPM, and etc. to move the needles. If I was using my SVT for more than daily driving I'd put real aftermarket gauges in that spot.

damn that is suprising. I figured that being it was the performance version of the focus that it would have some half way decent equipment in it. So then what is the purpose of the water temp sensor on the svt thermostat housing and the zx3 not having one in that location?

Zetec probably has one sensor due to cost cutting, or it helped to fine tune the SVT?? I have a scangauge that shows the ECT and CHT temp sensors and they almost show identical readings.

If you want to talk about equipment the MK1 RS didn't have a water temp gauge, it got dropped for the boost gauge.

that is a very interesting fact. Boost is great but water temp is crucial
