Car problems, Ford can't figure it out, help!

I've got a 2003 ZX-3 with the Pzev engine (from NY) about 29K miles on it.

Sometimes (rarly though no patern I can find) the engine will not respond to pressing the gas pedal, the engine will rev (if you floor the pedal you'll get "more" power) but engine will rev up then back down rapidly and lurch foward. I must stop, turn off engine and turn back on then the problem disapears. I recently had same problem happen but then the car stalled, power steering and brake power seemed to stop (Thank god I was only going 5 mph just got out of a parking lot) and it took a LOT of effort to turn the wheel and bring it to a stop.

They've taken a look at 3 times claiming "hey we drove it its fine we can't find anything wrong with it" and it's getting infuriating. If this happens when I'm on the highway it could be extremly dangerous.

Anyone have any ideas or experienced this? Yes I'm 100% completly sure it is a ZX-3 2003 Pzev so it's not the 00>02 recall issue.

Thanks for any suggestions you can offer, the dealership is not being very helpfull.

Tim

Check the air intake hose that goes to the intake. If the hose is not on real good or the clamp is real loose the motor will get to much air and will want to stall out on you. This happens because the MAF senser reads the air that is comeing through the intake. And if the hose is loose on your intake ,it is getting more air then the senser knows about and then the car will loose power or stall. I hope this helps. If so it is an easy fix.

do you have an auto tranny or a manual? got to get detailed with the info here. If an auto, the tranny is probably your problem.

It's auto.

Ford says the transmission is working fine. The fact that is does not replicate itself on any schedule or set time or condition is whats damned weird.

The Air intake hose? the entire air box in this is one set "system" the MAF sensor is part of the box AFAIK in the pipe.

Honestly all the "typical" things they claim they've checked and are working fine and anything else they can't just "replace" randomly.
