Loud Noise Coming from engine?

I have a 2013 focus, and recently started to notice that my engine is making a loud noise. It sounds almost like a lawn mower, or something similar a fan making a lot of noise.

I'm usually able to hear it when I turn the car off. Everything else stops but the loud blowing noise continues for a few more seconds. I can also hear it at stoplights if I turn off the radio.

There isn't any engine lights, and the engine heat gauge has been normal.

Any idea what this could be?

EDIT:

I went and tried to listen where the sound was coming from. I let my car idle for about 5 minutes and at that point it started to make it again. It sounded as if it was coming from directly under the engine, and I also noticed a significant amount of air flow as well.

Try opening the hood to see if it seems to be from radiator area, engine area, or possibly the interior ventilation fan?

I'm very automotively challenged, so please bear with me.

I opened the hood while the car was running, and the noise was coming from the left hand side of the car near where the engine belt is.

Odd for a noise from that area to continue after the car is shut off, it does eliminate either fan location as a possibility.

This does sound like something you'd want to get checked out, even if it turns out to be a minor issue a trained set of eyes could help track it down.

Luck

I went and listened to it again directly after turning the car off and it sounds more like it's coming from directly under the motor. I also noticed a lot more airflow.

I let the car idle for about 5 minutes, and it started around then.

If you're noticing air flow it's the engine cooling fan running.

They can be fairly noisy, but shouldn't be raucous as in something hitting a fan blade.

If you end up heading to your dealer to have this taken care of, please let me know. :)
