fuel pressure

hey all, ive been having a issue the last few days with the car bogging and almost stalling when at a stop. then today i could not accelerate without the car dying, i had to get back to my house at idle. when in the garage i heard the fuel pump whining really loudly and it finally threw a code...po191, fuel rail pressure. while the scanner was connected it was showing the fuel pressure at 13 psi. i replaced the fuel pump and the filter this afternoon and am still having the same issues.

my questions i have are,1) how do we hook up a fuel pressure gauge to the rail? there is no schrader? valve to screw the hose onto...2) is there a test for the fuel rail pressure switch to see if it is bad?

my car is a 2007 ses 2.0 that i have owned since new and have taken very good care of. i have 176000 mostly all highway miles on it.

i am stumped as to what it could be, i thought for sure the pump was bad. the filter bags on the pump were VERY dirty as was the inside of the housing where the pump sits. the tank itself was very clean looking...any ideas would be very much appreciated...thanks

Fuel rail pressure (FRP) sensor might possibly be faulty or leaking internally.

P0191 - Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Performance (FRP)
The comprehensive component monitor (CCM) monitors the FRP pressure for acceptable fuel pressure. The test fails when the fuel pressure falls below or exceeds a minimum/maximum calibrated value for a calibrated period of time.
Causes:
High fuel pressure.
Low fuel pressure.
Damaged FRP sensor.
Excessive resistance in circuit.
Low or no fuel.
A FRP PID value during KOER of 138 kpa (20 psi) and 413 kpa (60 psi) for gasoline or 586 kpa (85 psi) and 725 kpa (105 psi) for natural gas vehicles (NG) is acceptable.

thanks for the response, im trying to trouble shoot the issue before dropping another 70 bucks on the sensor. i would like to verify fuel pressure to the rail first but cant seem to find out how to connect the pressure gauge. maybe a trip to the junk yard to grab a sensor and see what happens

Physical gauges that measure the fuel rail pressure usually cost as much as the FRP sensor itself.

is there anything else it could be ? i have replaced the pump, swapped out the fuel control module and i cleaned the frp sensor. i keep seeing 12psi on my scanner, but when i un-plug and plug in the harness to the module it goes up to 50psi and then slowly reverts back to 12psi...im stumped

Sry to hear your fuel pump went out. I'm dealing with the same issue with my 2014 Focus. The car has 3,000 mi on it and the fuel pump quit.
