2013 Focus Engine Fault Service Now

I just bought a 2013 focus with front end damage. We want to get the engine running before ordering any parts. The display is showing Engine Fault Service Now. Anyone have tips on how to fix this? When turing the key to start it does nothing. Where should I start.

The car has damage back to the radiator and it did hit the electrical area a little, but I don't see any damage to the wires or connectors. Is this a simple code that needs to be reset after a accident?

Get a code reader and plug it in. Go from there.

Sorry I forgot to add that. I tried one out from autozone and when plugging it in all it says is linking failure. I'm not sure if its not compatible or what.

I didn't know they existed. I just ordered one. In the mean time any idea on what to check? Would having certain things like the radiator fan not plugged in give me this error? Sorry I've never done car engines, but I have done just about everything to boat and jet ski engines. I didn't think I would be messing with the electrical on this one.

If you have " Engine Fault Service Now " you have set the PATS or need to do a total reset
The way to do a total reset on the 2012 + is to take out ALL ECU related fuses from under hood and disconnect the Batt , I do this for 5 Min , just taking the Batt loose doesnt cut it any more

I dont remember the fuse # but it worked on a Focus I had in the shop that was hit and I was helping to get this worked out

With the " Engine Fault Service Now " NO code reader , no xcal3 , nothing will communicate with the ECU till this fault is reset

Thanks for the tip. That sounds like it might be my problem. I will give it a shot.

I figured it out! I found an area of the main harness that had 10 wires cut. I soldered them together and now the engine starts. But now it makes a high pitch squeal on the drivers side of the engine. Any idea what that is?

EDIT: The noise went away after about 15 seconds of the engine running. Must have been some belts or something that didn't like to sit for so many months.
