petrol hose clicking off

I have trouble filling my car with fuel because the fuel hose keeps clicking off all the time. Does anyone have any clues?
Thanks

I find some gas station pumps just push fuel too fast. So it backs up and clicks the pump off.
I usually only pull the pump handle halfway so it runs slower.
Sometimes it is only some of the pumps at a station.
I usually try to go to the exact same pump at my station if I can.
Then holding the nozzle so it is not twisted. IE so it is centered down the hole. If it is tilted more to one side (Up down right left) then it shuts off more.
No question it can be annoying.
But the filler tube has obstructions built in. (so gas cannot be sucked out etc..) And with some pumps with too much flow.. it can be hard to get an easy fill.

have tried that

Yes I have tried to adjust the nozzle in all directions, but it hasn't always done it. I thought their maybe a air hole or something to stop it from cutting off, but I am not sure.

On a 2005 GM I had, I had the same issue - on pumps with the plastic ribbing around the nozzle, it had to be perfectly centered without tension from side to side (parking too far away and having to stretch the hose).

It had to be what Elizabeth said, along with aging ribbing, because new ones were fine.

It might be that the tank is not venting properly. You should have the EVAP system checked out.

Typically what I've seen with that is a clog or spider nest in the vent hose for the evap system. This is where the air escapes as you fill up the tank with fuel. The buildup of pressure is what shuts off the pump.
