You can order a new coil pack harness from Ford for under $30 if I remember correctly. They get brittle and brake with age. I would check and be sure there are no other bad wires in that circuit.

I'd check for bad grounds. I don't know where all of the are off of the harness but I'm sure there's several. Blowing fuses means you either have a bad ground or you have a hot wire grounding out.

Yep, new harness. Cheap and easy, just splice in the three wires and you're good to go. Mine wasn't burnt, it just had a wee bit of corrosion on the middle wire, so close to the plug you could barely see it. But it was enough to throw a CEL and make it run like crap.

Check the alternator harness for the same thing.

so i looked further into the wiring harness to see if it melted anywhere else. well i found another spot. my exhaust had broke the day before this all happened. and where it melted was over top the exhaust. now having said that. could the fumes get hot enough to melt wires that far up the firewall? they are all separated now. will have pics to follow.

Yeah pics will help. I doubt the exhaust will melt wires untless they are pretty close to touching..
If you have a short, it can melt the wires further up.
