shake

Hello, i have a question My steering wheel shakes something awful, i can see that my mirrors shake to. It only happens when i'm idling at a stand still. My RPM's stay the same at 900-1100.I changed the plugs and wires. Everything runs great but why am i shaking so bad when i'm just sitting there?

Hi,
Your shake is probably caused by worn out engine mounts. Use search box at top of this page, and find many threads about this.

Here is a recent engine mount thread ->
I replaced the passenger & Drivers engine mount no change

Passenger side first, or where the majority of the problems come from. Ford part only too, MANY have been let down by aftermarket lifetime warranty parts, sometimes they don't even work brand new.

I had the exact same problem since I bought the car in November. It would shake, and in the winter all my plastic like the dash would creak like crazy. I had my hood open and I touched the rubber part of the passenger engine mount and fluid started leaking out. Bought a new one for $78 from Ford Parts in Las Vegas, 30 minutes to swap it out with regular tools and it was SO much better. Its nearly silent now.

There are two versions depending on whether you have an automatic or manual transmission. Make sure to get the right one.

EDIT: It is part #1 on that list, read the description below to get either manual or automatic.
