SPI Intake valve seat dropping?

My 2002 SPI finally let go a valve seat, cylinder #4. I had assumed that it would be the exhaust seat but when I got the head off I found the intake seat cocked at an odd angle. It was holding the intake valve open. The seat looks like it is all there and I do not see any damage to the piston.

Isn't the exhaust valve the usual culprit? Either way a new cylinder head is in my future.

How lucky is this?!!

I thought it was supposed to be the intake valves. mine was intake on #4

Hmm..OK. I must have had it wrong in my mind all along. Looks like I need to re-read some threads. I was fully expecting the exhaust valve seat to be the bad one.

Have you, or anyone, ever done business with Odessa Cylinderhead as a supplier of re-manufactured heads?

I believe that's the preferred company to go through here. I'm sure I would have gone through them if I didn't choose the path of adding four more cylinders.

I just took my head off of ky 2001 SPI the #4 valve has left a half moon indent on my piston. My original plan was to just fix the head gasket and such. What should I really do? Do I need to buy new valves?

If the head is original and you have it off, you'd do best to have new valve seats installed. Probably simpler and easier to just replace everything with a rebuilt head that has had all the potentail problems attended to.
If something has scarred the top of the piston, then examining the cylinder bore/piston for further damage would be wise. Also the intake manifold is in need of a thorough inspection and cleaning of any potential hidden debris.

if you pull out the piston and it's OK with no cracks and the top ring still moves freely, it should be fine to be reused.

I would also make sure the wedged seat didn't bend a valve.
