AC/Heat Question.

I'm not sure if this is the right location for this, but I was wondering if this has happened to anybody else. Whenever my heat/ac is on a low setting, either 1 or 2 for the fan speed, it has a weird squeal to it whenever I push on the gas or push the brakes. It sounds like a high pitched whistle. It started around whenever I put my head unit in, so I thought it could be something I knocked loose while messing around inside, but I couldn't find anything. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Can you get a video clip of the sound? If it started after you put your head unit in, it could be electrical interference/noise from the engine and you may need a resistor. I also remember hearing that it can be a problem with the alternator voltage regulator.

I'll try to get a clip up later on. What size resistor do you think I would need, if that's what it is?

I'm not sure. I had this problem several years ago with a different car and I ended up just replacing the head unit. That solved the problem. I think that there should be a resistor built into the head. May have fried it during the install, or it's just defective? Does it still make the noise if you have the radio turned all the way off (not just volume turned down)?

I'm not sure. I never had the radio turned off completely while I was driving. I'll try that, too. I was looking at new head units, too, so maybe that will help like you said. It's kind of hard to fry a resistor, though. Especially internal/pre-built stuff. Thanks for your help, too. I appreciate it.

Hard but not impossible :) It's also possible to get one that's defective from the factory.

I wish HiFonics made HU's. I could match all my audio, then. That would be great.
