05 Focus ZX4 HELP!

Ok guys Im new to the forum and have a few questions on my 05 focus zx4 sedan with the 2.0l motor....First issue is at random times it takes alot of cranks to fire the engine and when it does it may run fine or may kill on me?...Fuel pump? electrical issue?sensor problem? to add to that the car throws no codes and the check engine light has now come on but was do for an oil change...does this make the check engine light come on if its close to needing to be serviced?...should I reset it? Any help would be great! Thanks

CEL shouldn't come on just for an oil change. I was 200 miles over the 3000 recommended and no lights. It sounds like a fuel issue, so my guess is fuel pump. if it's cranking that means it isn't electrical (or atleast shouldn't be)

Note the other recent post on "Start Up Issues", also with an '05.

The TSB noted there MAY help, if it applies to yours & hasn't been done. The other comments on waiting B4 cranking sometimes help as well (different issue).

The CEL needs checking, it MAY point to an issue that contributes to the problem. I say it that way because codes don't always point directly to the problem, sometimes it's just a clue in diagnosing the issue.

Luck!
