Most likely, now to guess whether the hatch is heavier than the wagon "gate".

Either would probably do the job, right match would work better.

Exactly, it's not like it's a big undertaking, but now I'm intrigued by the choice. I'm tempted to buy both, stick them in a vise, and measure the compression under load. My has been activated.

O'Reilly can look them both up in the physical hard catalog and tell you the load they take............BTDT.

FYI, they list those as 'lifetime' parts, but I have not seen ANYBODYS' over the counter lift supports last longer than maybe a couple of years, some die faster than that. Crap quality parts.

They are definitely different

The hatch one can sorta go on the wagon but then the tailgate doesn't go up far enough because it is too short.

I bought Monroe 901642 for a 2002 ZX5. They were the recommended model for the 2002 ZX5 by the Monroe site, but were too long and caused the hatch to pinch the back of the roof. I still have the Monroe's if anyone wants them.

I bought from rock auto: Sachs SG304042.

They are 1/2" longer than original and in order to get them on had to remove both sides and further open the hatch. The shock body is longer than original but the stroke is enough to close the door.

The problem is it brings the hatch extremely close to the roof, close enough that it may be touching in spots. I'm not comfortable because it doesn't leave any room for error when the gate is open.

Looking for any correct part #s for this shock!
