No free float that you can feel once installed, the outboard end locates in/out position positively. The inboard one floats in and out later in use, the outboard simply swings up and down with no in/out movement.

took the crank senser from the old engine and replaced the one on the new short block.

it now sputters, acts like its firing too soon, as it brings the starter to a dead stop.

so i figure timing is off, time for more site searching.....to recover the steps for SPI timing.....

timing is right i think. its SPI

the mark on the cam is aligned to the dot on the head.

with the crank pulley off, the mark on the block is lined up to the mark on the crank that the pulley covers up.

am i using the right marks ????

found the issue with the vibrating...

knowing timing and spark is fine...and all needed wiring is in order...
ran a comp test
dead hole on NO4 i mean DEAD, not even a wiggle of the comp gage..

its ether the valves or the rings...

if its the rings...
in no way do i advise doing biz with..
fast auto wrecking and towing LLC
in Battle ground, WA

so i will be making phone calls and pulling the head and pan.

the call to the person that the car belongs to, is going to be a very hard phone call.
