'01 Thump thump thump...

'01 Focus Sedan

There is this thumping at the front of the vehicle, sounds like the passenger side but I'm not so sure anymore... It sounds like a flat tire (but the tires are definitely fine). At it's peak at lower speeds and when not accelerating and pretty much goes away at highway speeds.

Any ideas? I've heard various opinions as to what it could be - but there are way too many options. Tempted to just start replacing everything! That's how annoying it is.

Thanks

Maybe this?

Replace the C-V Shaft.
Replace the Ball Joint - it's easiest to replace the entire control arm.

IMHO, replacing parts in pairs is a best practice. A good part in combination with a worn one will put more stress on the worn part and you'll be replacing it shortly anyways. I like even/predictable ware.
So I'd replace both C-V Shafts and both front control arms, and the other Sway Bar Endlink.

Im guessing one of your tires broke a belt internally. Try rotating the tires front to back and see if the thumping follows

Is it just a noise or does the steering wheel vibrate as well?

My first suggestion would be the same as above, try rotating the tires and see if it stops or transfers to the back. While you have the tire off, check the rim for any bends on the inside. That could be your problem.
