Sticking DBW gas pedal
2009 SES Coupe 5spd 91k miles
For the past month or 2 my throttle pedal has been sporadically sticking, happens more noticeably when the vehicle is cold.
It is most noticeable when shifting. Take foot off accelerator, clutch in, then the engine will race until the pedal becomes free and smacks me in the foot.
Lately this has become more frequent and will happen in more situations, letting off the accelerator on the highway today, the vehicle continued to accelerate until the pedal freed up. Genuinely dangerous when there are other cars on the road.
(insert pedals must be made by Toyota joke here)
So, it seems I have a legitimate unintended acceleration problem. I cleaned the throttle body at about 80k, and while I haven't checked it since, I am assuming that it is not the issue because there is no throttle cable.
The question is, are there any related TSBs or recalls that I haven't seen? Is there some sort of fix that I missed when I searched? Does anyone know if Ford updated the pedal cluster in the later US mk2s?
