OK this is NOT an issue with the key not be recognized

Your issue is pure electrical
Maybe the mechanics did not tighten the battery clamps
Look at your battery clamps are they nice and clean?
Next step: grab a hold of the cable/battery clamp and as hard as you can twist the clamp sideways. Does it move? if yes that is no good
Can you tighten via the nut on the clamp or does it seem to be as tight as it gets.
Now if the nut is tight then you need to place a piece of metal like metal from a pie plate, over the 'anchor' part of the clamp stud, a hole needs to be drilled thru that stuff so it fits properly

PLEASE come back with your experience

You were correct. The dealer said it was a loose battery cable. "Someone loosened your battery cable."

When the problem occurred, the first thing I checked was the battery. There was some corrosion on the positive lead, but as far as I could tell the cables were tight.

The dealer didn't charge for the tow or the service. They also finally replaced the driver's side visor.

Hi fcabanski,

I'm glad to hear that your dealership resolved this for you. If you need any assistance in the future, don't hesitate to reach out to me.
