Help - 2.3 Low idle (750~) misfire/hesitation/stutter from idle - 2500~

I have a 2.3 Dtec with 177000 miles. 2 of 4 spark plugs i pulled had oil on threads + a metal flake/shaving.

I swapped in new plugs and it temporarily solved my issues.
But 20 miles later the issues are seemingly coming back.

I searched and saw that Piston rings, or even Coil packs would be culprits in causing my symptoms.

Anyone have similar issues and resolved them?

Im about to schedule a compression test to help seek an answer.

After 3100 rpm, engine runs fine and accelerates very nicely. Obviously though im not going to be in a constant state of hard acceleration.

Whats your regular maintenance schedule like?

Along with the plugs I would change the fuel filter if you haven't recently. A compression test would give you piece of mind. Oil on the threads of the plugs could mean you need a valve cover gasket change; easy to do in your driveway.

My 2.3L has 167k miles with 30k miles of 8 psi and still runs like clockwork.

No schedule, car has been in my hands for 1 month being fixed from total worthy status to beater status. Ive driven it 125 miles so far :p

Try cleaning your MAF and IAC. At 177K, new coil on plugs wouldnt hurt either.

Oil on plugs - found the same thing on my girlfriend's Celica. All it needed was a new valve cover gasket; backs up what Jgrove said

IAC, Idle Air Control, its on the throttle body and can get gummed up. It has a plunger on a cylinder. Worth a shot. Also a valve cover gasket as mentioned cant hurt.

Thank you for the advice. Ill clean it out asap. Its been running better since just the plug swap alone. But not perfectly. Ill locate a gasket/coils and do a all in one clean up. Bought a can of seafoam just in case to clean up the engine internally. Figured it wouldnt hurt to give it a once over on all bases.

As for fuel filter, another good point, I have to replace my Power steering pressure line so once i get the car on a lift ill fish that out as well. Thankfully i have my 2000 lx (SPI) DD that i can put my registration back on if i cant get this zts Centennial (Dtec) on its feet before the inspection is due.

To pass inspection it needs the power steering line + parking brake adjuster bars. Not much but im hoping to JY the adjuster bars to avoid 140 in dealer parts + the 60~80 Power steering line.

Further Note, Issues still abound, Replaced 4 Motorcraft plugs, cleaned MAF sensor and ran Lucasoil to clean out injectors etc. Going to find out and clean theIAC next and try and research the vacuum lines. Anyone know diagrams?
