disabled driver cannot lift boot open

hi
we have problem ,unable to open the boot when it is unlocked due to muscular weakness, been quoted 1600 for automatic opening kit fitted,but want cheaper alternative....can we buy new more powerful gas struts to provide the power to get boot lifted open, only need a bit of extra help to get boot open

we can put a rubber strap on the interior handle
