Weird creaking sound only on highway?
Hi there I am new to the forum and was just wondering if you guys could help me out.. I have a 2007 ford focus ZX3 i love the car but there is one thing just driving me crazy, at highway speeds there is a creaking sound kinda like if you stepped on an old hard wood floor coming from the passenger side it sounds like it might be coming from teh suspension but it only happens at speeds above 40mph and since I drive the highway everywhere i go it gets pretty annoying. It doesnt happen at slower speeds, in turns or going over bumps only at highway speeds. I have taken the center console out and put a light coating of grease on everything to see if the noise would go away but nope its still there and I'm worried it might be something kinda serious[ohcrap]... Any help?
Welcome to FF!
I'm going to move this to "General Tech" for you to get a wider audience, it's not really a good fit in an engine performance section....
Not much for ideas on that "creak" myself, especially since you mentioned it DOESN'T correlate with going over bumps....
The speed note makes me think of odder possibilities, like wind seals around glass & doors...
Keep working on narrowing down the source & describing JUST when it occurs & the folks here will throw out any thoughts that seem to apply...
kinda old now but i figured it might help someone else it turned out to be the exhaust heatshield was falling off... took it off the noise is gone lol
