Difference in early Focus fuel pump ?

I "might" attempt a fuel pump change this weekend. I read somewhere that the replacement pumps have to be modified to fit the 00-01 Focus. Anyone know for sure ? I keep seeing two listings on the parts sites. Says something about 2 rods. I also read something about modifying some clips. I don't want to get halfway through and be stuck with a problem.

Yes the pump module should have 'rods'.

You have to cut 3 tabs from the inside of the fuel tank.

It's somewhat tough to get the blue ring to thread on. And you have to keep and eye on the green gasket. It likes to roll.

You're a quick guy, I'm sure you'll have no troubles.

Okay. I'm thinking of cutting an access hole in the floor. I have a full tank of gas right now and I don't want to drain 13 gallons. Are these tabs plastic or metal ? I've done quite a search for a how-to, but there's nothing on the early model pump. Everything else seems to be straight forward.

Plastic / Nylon. They trim right out with a razor blade.
Ware gloves and don't cut yourself, blood does not combust well.

If you need a pic of ware to cut the hole lemme know.
