Duratec Oil Leak?

Have an oil leak on my car (2.0 duratec) thats stumping me. Its coming from the front of the engine block but I havent pulled anything apart to get a really good look. PCV area is clean and it appears to be coming from above the oil filter housing.

Are there any common things that I should look for in that general area?

My driveway thanks you in advance

thinking it might be the oil filter or that sensor right next to it

Pics do help cant really diagnose it with nothing to go by all we can do is the same as you.....guess...
But prolly a valve cvr gskt or oil pan (sometime will go up instead of drip down) thats tye most common other than than have you noticed any blue grey smoke from the exhaust? If not that eliminates head gskt... Other than that not too much that it can leak from besides you mentioned sensors and filter ...... Best thing to do get engine cleaner spray your engine and clean it all up run it around few days to a week and it will lead ya to it more than not. Hope that helps

it looks like its coming from behind the starter? def not the oil filter or the sensor right next to it. no oil above the starter but plenty below. theres a spongy gasket around the starter and the lower half is soaked in oil.

what the hells wrong?

so behind the starter is a big mess on the transmission side. clutch and brakes feel fine, clutch/brake fluid res. is full, trans fluid is just below the fill hole

hoping someone can chime in. what does a rear main seal failure look like?

Don't for get the gasket that is in between the oil filter adapter bracket and the engine block. Had that thing leak like a faucet the time I removed that bracket...had to replace the gasket with new one from Ford. A friend of mine also had the same problem.

Not sure if that's your issue though.

yeah thats what I set out to do today. drained the oil and pulled the filter. looks like the adapter is sealed really well, no mess. its a little to the right of that thats soaked in oil. it appears to start at the starter on the front and is wet all the way around the bottom to the back. crossmembers soaked

thanks though!

stopped by the dealer today and they think its the rear main seal but wont touch it under the 5/100 warranty because of my PCV delete. silly because with the valve active it was blowing tons of oil into the intake manifold, but now my catch cans almost dry.

bummer. CM stage 3 clutch, flywheel and torsen are going in while its apart at least
