Note to all 2012 owners with MFT

NOTE TO ALL MFT OWNERS:

If your My Ford Touch is locked up or blank or acting up please see below

until the software update is out to correct the MFT issues, here is how to reset the SYNC system.

Crawl under the passenger side of the dash.
Below the glovebox is a cover for the fuse panel.
Fuse# 79 controls most SYNC functions.
Fuse # 79 is in the 3rd row from the left and 3rd up from the bottom.
pull the fuse. wait a few seconds
reinsert the fuse
turn car on and watch the system power up and function.

this is only how to temporarily reset the system until the software update is available from Ford.

My owners manual stated it was fuse #67 so make sure you read the manual to pull the right one for your car

Hi everyone,

I know this is inconvenient, and I apologize for that. I wanted to add the descriptions of what the fuses control.

Fuse 67 is 7.5A and controls SYNC, Multifunction Display, Global positioning system (GPS) module, and compass.

Fuse 79 is a 15A, and controls the radio, Navigation DVD player, touch screen, hazard light switch, and the door lock switch.

Navigation DVD player? Do our cars come with a DVD player? Thought it was just CD? Curious and thanks for the details on the fuses!

I was on a 7 hour road trip over the weekend with my 2012 Titanium, listening to Satellite Radio, attempted to adjust volume from the steering control, and boom, locked hard. I tried the touch screen and every button that I could think of but it was locked tight with display information (song info, time) all static. The radio did continue to play the sound.

The only control that worked was physical volume dial (which was good because it was in this bizarre cycle of increasing the volume about every 60 seconds on its own.) If the manual volume did not still work, it would have increased until it blew my ears (and speakers) unless I pulled over and turned the car off. Not safe since I was on the Interstate in a construction zone with no shoulder.

When I finally stopped and shut the car off, (and restarted) screen showed a "performing system maintenance" scroll-bar followed by a successful startup.

Does the hard fuse removal do something that shutting the car off does not?

I certainly hope updates stabilize things as this is a big hassle in a otherwise dandy car. No fun when you go to show off the Sync system to friends and its unresponsive (which has happened 3 times.)

Hi,

The fuse guide on page 303 owner's manual is occasionally references multiple vehicles, including some that do have Navigation DVD players, such as the 2011 Fusion. Hope that clears up the confusion.

BiggerBoat,

I love that you were so excited to show off SYNC! I wish you were able to successfully demonstrate everything it offers. The stability of SYNC is a large focus of the In-Vehicle Technology Team. If you have specific issues and would like to discuss troubleshooting, I suggest contacting them at 800.392.3673 (option 1 then 3).

Thanks for the tip misfire,
I had to leave my focus on a dark parking lot (in Mexico) with the touch screen on. even when I turned off the car it was still frozen.
I was afraid I would come back and find a missing window but luckily everything was OK.
BiggerBoat, I also have been embarrassed trying to show off. I just don't recommend the system anymore. too bad Ford decided to use Microsoft (any programmer can make a better reliable system for a tenth of the cost)... hope no Microsoft stuff is on the safety features.

Frustrating.
