I think that he wants to use the A/V input. It won't work if the car is in motion

OK, so I'm in the market for a Focus SE 5-door, and am trying to decide how to configure it. I'm getting an SE because I want the 5-speed manual tranny, so therefore I'm not worried about complaints I've read about the DSG transmission.

But Ford has received a lot of bad press about the MyTouch Sync system. I know Ford is working hard to improve this product, and I've read that there's a Performance Software patch which I'm sure a newly-purchased car would already have installed.

So my question is: If your MyTouch Sync system has all of the (currently) latest software updates, how satisfied are people with it? Should I follow Consumer Reports' recommendation and stay away from MyTouch Sync (even though it has features that I would like), or has Ford fixed this system enough that the initial grief is no longer an issue?

It is still beta software/hardware. I would stay away for at least one maybe 2 revision cycles.

I can live with software revision cycles, because that would allow me to buy the product now and then get it updated later. But if the hardware is going to change too, that would be a problem.

Even with the disappointing glitchly-ness, my MFT is still a sweet system and the additional speakers, sub-woofer and amp power bring a lot better sound. And since the features work 90% of the time they are a lot of fun to have.

Do you have the Performance Software Update installed? Do the additional speakers/subwoofer/amp come automatically with the MyTouch Sync (203A) package, or were those additional upgrades that you added above the 203A package?

Yes, I have the 3.02 installed and the high end system is all a bundle. That is, once you go to the MFT level, you get the 10 speakers with subwoofer, increased amp power. There is not any modularity on the high end system as far as I am aware of.
