I hate it when dealers try to BS customers. I would never walk through their door again and tell anyone that would listen about how they lie.

He has a 2011 not 12.

Hi Jim in Mich,

The post you are referring to was from May, and as serathe said, that was a 2011. You were correct in your description of PowerShift though.

I thought about asking this in general but i figured i would start here. Is anyone else experiencing problems? I know it's a dry clutch but i wanted to hear other peoples experience.
My 2012 SEL still has shifting problems after 15K miles and one software update. I had another Ford, the 2003 Mazda 6 that also had terrrible shifting. I wonder if the Focus has another JATCO transmission accompanied similar terrible programming?

2011 Focus Focus Shifting Issues

I have a 2011 Ford Focus with 64,000 miles with continuous shifting issues since original purchase.
I have taken the vehicle in many times to Ford for service and warranty inspection with each time being told that they cannot reproduce the issues.
The issues with the shifting / transmission is at higher speeds (>40 the vehicle would bang into the next gear) heavy shift. This would also jolt the car when driving but every time I was told it was normal or there was not issue. In addition, before gear change the engine would rev high before the next gear was selected, to which know it engine red lines before selecting the next gear.
I just complete another standard vehicle service with the dealership saying everything is fine with the vehicle, is anyone else having similar issues.

No-one can help without more information.

You happened to pick a thread FULL of confusion between different models of cars sold in the U.S. & Canada, where some were posting about a car with the traditional torque converter automatic & others about the new "DCT" dual clutch automated manual.

Since you didn't fill out the personal info. section showing your location when joining, we can't guess from "'2011 Focus" which type of car you have.

MkIII versions with the DCT were introduced in 2011 in many parts of the World, and in 2012 in the U.S. & Canada.

So, where are you & what are you driving?

That is "one" of the symptoms my 2012 focus had. I would advise you seek out the Ford rep Meagan here at this board and she can help you get the dealers proper attention to this.

Welcome to the forum, joevgomes.

When was your most recent dealer visit? I can check out some options.

There are some unique characteristics to the PowerShift 6 Speed Transmission:
  • When you take your foot off the accelerator pedal and the vehicle begins to slow down you may perceive a light to medium braking sensation as the transmissions makes adjustments.
  • During the break in period, the transmission may shift quicker or harder. This will smooth out after a short period of time.
  • You may hear mechanical noises when driving.
  • You may feel a difference when pulling away from a stop.
