Wiper motor help!!!!!!

So I read all of the threads I can find on this subject and none of them really apply to my problem. So here it is... I had a leak in my passenger side cowl. I fixed the problem but my wiper motor started to sound very loud. The wipers worked on all positions until recently they just stopped. Sometimes they run fine and others not at all and then sometimes just on fast. There are other times where I move the wiper switch and they attempt to move but just shift a 1/4 of an inch. I read that it could be a fuse but noone had the problem with the motor sound and Im assuming because it works sometimes that my motor is fine. I live in New England and the spring rain is coming and I'm afraid rain-x isnt going to get me through the season lol. Any help would be appreciated! Just in case does anyone know the cost to replace the wiper motor? or if its a DIY job? and what to use to seal the cowl down? Thanx again for any help!

You can try replacing the wiper motor relay first to see if that addresses the intermittent/haphazard operation problem - link here - but if the wiper motor itself is making a loud noise, I'd say it's probably in need of replacement.
