Need a new Key!

Hi, I'm new to the forum and Focus' themselves.

Anyway, I recently bought a 1999 Focus 1.4 CL out at an auction, the car was in pretty much mint condition, but apparently the only key the owners gave with the car was was the spare key with the blue code bit on it. I knew there was gonna be trouble getting a new key because they are key coded with the ignition. Anyway, I took the car to a UK Ford dealer, Vospers, and they said, the only way for them to get me a new key with remote central locking and to program it is to pay them around 150. But I mean 150 for a new key?? :(

Surely there is a cheaper alternative? I know you can cut the key, but it will only work with the door locks I was told.

Any help at all will be very much appreciated.

Thanks.
