Rockauto.com does have the motorcraft ones for about 200 a piece so itll be about 400 to replace both sides.

Check Kragen, they have a lifetime warantee so if they break there free the second time. Not a hard install I have done mine a couple times. You will need a 1 1/16" I think socket to remove the knuckle side huge nut.

Easiest way, if your going to replace both is to remove the passenger side first it just pulls out of the tranny super easy, you will need a press tool like this

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...pecialty+Tools

First remove your break caliper and rotor
use above mentioned tool to press the shaft out of the knuckle.
You will probably need to remove the knuckle from the A-arm, I just stepped on my a-arm and it pulled right out of the spindle.
Also need to remove the two nuts on the bracket under the car on the passenger side support bearing.
After it's out of the knuckle/spindle you can pull it right out of the tranny

Same thing goes for the passenger side but easiest way to remove it from the tranny is by using a long screw driver on the passenger side and tap it out from the passenger side, I have removed mine by prying it out and that sucked, that little locking clip thing on the end doesn't like to come out of the tranny. But the tapping it out from the passenger side is super easy, just make sure it's a long skinny screwdriver so it can get around the big metal thing in the middle, not sure of the technical name for it you can see it if you can get your head up there behind the tranny. another note it's a bit easier if you remove the bottom engine mount so you can access everything a bit easier.

Hope that helps

There's a lengthy description of what you'll basically have to do to replace your axles aside of changing the filter because this is written for an ATX Focus. You will need new transmission fluid regardless- but the draining and replacing process is a bit simpler on a manual trans.

CV axles

Call around, parts places should have a separate part for SVT's, I'd be VERY surprised if they didn't. Shop around for the best price.

I had to do one awhile ago, a company called EMPI sells new ones for around $100. Got mine from autopartswarehouse.com I think.

i know this is an old thread and i don't mean to jack it but no need to start a new thread. If i have changed CV joints in 2001 Taurus, and a 90 Escort. the SVT is the same right? FWD cars pretty much the same deal?

Pretty much.

LHS shaft is easiest to get out with a drift carefully slid through the trans. from the RHS after removing that shaft. (no circlip to hold RHS in)
