Great service at a Dealer!

After reading countless stories of the problems encountered with the service departments on here, I thought I'd share my experience.

I took my SVT in to Koons Ford in Baltimore to get some warranty work done before it expired. My SVTF had 32K on it and 10 days left on the 36 month part. I took it in cause it was running a little sub par lately. I told the service writer that the clutch felt like it was slipping and that it was worse while driving long distances. I also was having power steering problems and also my heat shields were rattling. I gave him the TSB number for the clutch and told him that I did some research and that might help. I was not snotty, just helpful. He asked me over and over if I had any engine mods done, and I replied that I did not. He had me sign for a loaner and gave me keys to a 2005 Taurus.

The next afternoon I got a call from the service writer. He said the tech didn't have to drive too far to feel the problems but needed to drive it more just to be sure. He had good news and bad news. First, the good news. If it was the clutch, they would replace it as per the TSB and replace whatever else was wrong. The bad news, this is horrible. The tech was worried that there was not enough gas in the tank to get a good test drive. LOL. He asked if was ok if they took it to get gas (10 bucks). I said, of course and he asked what brand I prefered and what octane. Thats what I call service. I said 93 at a reputable station was fine.

So they determined the clutch was bad, the power steering rack was binding, and the power steering pump was no good. The fluid had a burnt smell.

It took 2 and a half weeks to get the car done. Not a problem since I had a nice loaner. They had to order the bolts and dowels for the transmission twice. Seems that ford didn't feel like sending the correct amount. Trust me, I didn't mind driving the Taurus. I put over 1500 miles on it instead of on my Focus.

So i picked up my car yesterday. It was clean and had gas. It also has a new clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, clutch slave cylinder, power steering rack, power steering pump, belt, and new heat shield brackets. Not bad for free huh. They didn't even charge me for the gas. I have always had great service there.

As far as the car's performance goes....MUCH BETTER. I gotta get used to the bite the clutch has now. WooHoo. Anyways, thats my story.
