A little fun topic here to get everyone's minds off all the doom and gloom plaguing this forum.. What cars have you gone head to head with in a 1/4 drag or w/e. win or lose lets hear about it. (I know the focus isn't a sports car by any means but doesn't mean you can't have a little fun once in a while) my '12 is still stock (sadly) and have won against a 2008 Mitsubishi eclipse gs that sports a 2.4L I4 with 162HP, I have also won against a 2006 Hyundai Sonata V6 that sports a 3.3L with 235hp. The one car I lost too was a Chevrolet Cobalt SS.
I had some guy trying to give me a run in a MK1 Focus then he got butthurt when I kept pulling away from him. Outside of that I doubt my Focus will see a dragstrip but my STI sees plenty and I beat alot of interesting cars with that.
How would they be able to tell the difference between a 1/4 mile drag strip run vs accelerating full bore from a standing stop at a redlight onto a freeway entrance ramp which happened to also be exactly 1/4 of a mile long?
I posit that unless it actually was a factor in whatever component failed they would never know the difference in the first place.
Why would you want to race a car that goes 0-60 in 9 secs? Seems pointless to me! If I wanted to race someone (which I don't), I'd used my Supercharged Benz SLK230. A bit faster then my Focus....
Anyway street racing is dumb and gets people killed....keep it on the track.

Auto mazda 2.3
BMW auto (just the cheaper model I think)
Dodge Dakota auto
Audi 1.8t manual
2.0t or 1.8t genesis manual
Hyundai tiburon v6 manual I have yet to beat. Those things move.
These are the cars I've beaten 1/8mile
Are cars are nothing special. But that guy who just spent 10-20 grand and lines up against the focus and gets a run for its money. I'm sure it gets them thinking
Street fun doesn't mean much anyway. I boxed out a mustang gt trying to pass me in the turn lane from a stop in a Camry. I didn't get the jump on him, I'm just convinced it must have been stick, and he couldn't drive for Shit. The point being, there are plenty of idiots on the roads driving nice cars, so not much point in bragging. A rabid monkey could have outrun that Camry in a gt, but the point is beating someone to a light doesn't make your car fast.
Can't help but agree here, traded out of my 300whp Mazdaspeed 3 to get away from all of that garbage, it's the furthest thing from my mind in my Focus, lol.
Wow, this thread turned into a typical mk3 section thread.
To stay on topic, I ran a dart Turbo in my SE at the track, pulled it hard off the line and had a solid car ok him until I couldn't get the car into 3rd. He beat me by a fender. Then ran an integra with a fart can and ran my best run of the night, 16.2@89 and beat the integration by a car
Ran a AWD magnum R/T in the ST and had him by half a fender when we shut down.
Moved this to "General Racing Chat" so it can be shared among all Focus owners.
