Tom's full kit on stock svt. vs. stock 2006 sti?

How would these two cars compete? close q' times? top speed? If it was close, would the sti dominate after going catless with larger exhaust?

Jjust a stab here, all things being equal, drivers conditions etc. i think the quarter would be damn close, the svtf would have a sizeable whp advantage but the launch would be a sizeable disadvantage, now as for a roll.... i think the svtf would walk the sti, its lighter and it has more whp and good gearing for a roll. As for top speed im not sure i think the sti's are limited to 155?(i might be crazy) I'm not sure what the drag coeffecient is on the sti but the svtf although stable at triple digit speeds wasnt greatly shaped for them.

According to what Tom has on his website, the SVT full turbo kit has seen numbers of 239fwhp. I'm sure Tom has probably gotten more out of a stock SVT but I will leave that up to him to answer. STi's see that at the wheels stock so the 1/4 times would be interesting but I still think the STi could take you only because of the launch. From a roll would be even more interesting for sure. Jerbo is right with the STi top speed topping out about 155 mph.

If the STi went catless with a larger exhaust he would need to be tuned unless he wants boost creep (VERY BAD). If he just goes with the Cobb system it would put up good numbers of 277awhp/316 Tq and a much beefier midrange so it is more formidable on the races from a roll.

I thought the full kit was 300whp give or take? if its only 239 then no chance in hell for the 1/4 but i think that might be the stg1?

edit 240-250 on 93
high octane=320+

Tom most DEFINITLY can get more than 250whp on 93..... it depends on how far the owner wants to push it.... because if you tell him to keep pushing and the motor blows its YOUR problem not his.

I make 330whp on 93..... and I'm mostly stock.

You said what about going catless on the STi with bigger exhaust..... why not do it on the SVT as well..... since this started out as a Stock STi vs a Stock SVT w/turbo thread. If you do something to one you need to do it to the other to keep the question fair.

fine do it to both, you dont think the 2.5l in the sti would make more of a gain than the svt?

I think from a roll on if the STI was stock and the SVT had a full Toms Turbo kit on the car I think the SVT would win from a roll.......most stock SRT4's pull or at least hang w/a STI stock out the box and STI's almost run a full second better then a SRT in the 1/4 mile......being that a full turbo tom kit on a svt puts out more power then a stock SRT, I could see the SVT easily walking the STI........if both had supporting mods...whether it be 3" dp or exhaust or w/e....

everyone is forgetting about the horrible all wheel disadvantage from a roll. The srt's walk all over the sti on highways and streets from any decent rolling start. because its trying to distribute the power to all 4 wheels. I personally have never riden with a turbo svt, i wish though, but the srt basically stock beats the sti. from a stop though, the srt cant gain traction. i am awaiting some questions myslef about the svt motor i have to see if i want to boost it, and if i do, it would wonderful to put some of these bragging sti's to shame, because im modest and dont talk a bunch of shit about what i have!!
