Question Getting Power To The Ground

With this recent cold weather about 5 degrees, my SVTF with a JRSC has been runing awsome but I find high RPM's in first all the car does is spin, probibaly due to cold tires etc but when I shift into second I find that you cant hear the tires spin but it feels like there is no power gettin to the ground it just kind of holds that RPM then eventually connects and starts to move. I raced my buddie who I can smoke but my launch was shit and when I shifted into second the RPM stuck then dropped a little then connected

Could this be just tire spin? or is there something else that is causing a power loss from first to second?

what kind of tires are you using? that may have something to do with it.

edit, just noticed your sig. I have the same problem, when its cold or alittle wet. Once i hit around 5-6K rpm my tires break lose.

Definitly the clutch, but the LSD/Clutch/flywheel doesn't stop wheel spin in first......it actually made it alittle worse since the engine was getting more power to the ground.... plus reving up faster from the light weight flywheel.

ANY day I can be driving along, drop to second and just SHRED the tires.........

I wouldnt say it was the clutch or the tires , If you shift into second and the RPM drops than you have something else wrong if it was tires or clutch your RPM would go up reguardless

Sounds like the second shift anyway may be a bogging issue

yea, I think it is the clutch now that u mention it, my dad was saying something about my clutch being weird.. Then what is a good clutch / flywheel/ LSD to purchase and how much should this run me in Canadian $. Im putting it away over the winter and I was going to get new breaks and the BBK so what the hell why not a new clutch / flywheel

ps is a LSD a new limited slip something... also does Ford Racing make good after market cluthc's / flywheels and LSD's?

If it was the clutch the RPM would go up but the car wouldnt be pulling you said that " when I shift into second I find that you cant hear the tires spin but it feels like there is no power gettin to the ground it just kind of holds that RPM then eventually connects and starts to move.

Bad clutch wouldnt hold that RPM it would flash the RPM then grab and the RPM come back down

My car spins the tires out in 1st and 2nd gear with 20lb+ of boost. I first thought it was clutch slip. I turned the radio off and put the windows down and could hear the tires were spinning. I don't think the stock tires will be able to handle alot of hp and tq.

I fixed my traction issues in my mustang with a nitto 315/35/17 drag radail. I am thinking of trying a drag radial on the focus. I wish I can put a larger tire on the focus, but the fenders are not wide enough.
