Well Tossa 4k won't be enough for either, if you want a quility reliable kit with any kind of support. The best reason I can think of why NOT to go SC is that the Turbo offers superior numbers and will blow your doors off....period....

4k would prolly only get you a Jackson SC installed and tuned. I think you would still be very happy w/ that tho.

$3390 for focus with svt engine free shipping. Noe tunning so it will end up costing more than $4000 but not much at all. In minnesota theres a company that does chip and tunning with unlimited dyno time for $500 look around there might be a place near you that has a similar deal. Heres a link http://focus.c-f-m.com/index.asp?Pag...ROD&ProdID=858

turbo = more gain vs. sc

However you have spool time to think about. While the turbo numbers are so very appealing, I am more a fan of the supercharger because you have the boost all the time and less modding to incorporate a sc ....less crap to go wrong and less maintenance. For instance, the Jackson SC...you have to change its oil every 75-100k...and thats about it.

But if you arent worried about all that and want just straight up #'s...talk to Tom. Turbo's are def better gain.

With a turbo you also have boost all the time

What modding is needed to run a Turbo that isnt needed to run a SC ?

Less crap to go wrong ?

Less maintenance ?

I am not a guru such as yourself, sir. so please dont jump down my throat...I am not here to knock your biz.

But to my knowledge tappin your oil, mod the exhaust, maybe addl cooling and lubing(?)(turbos get damn hot) and it may take a little more tuning. This also depends on what kit you get and wether or not you do it yourself, etc. ( lotsa variables here)

But I have watched folks blow tons of time and money getting their turbo'd cars working right vs. doing a supercharger in your garage in a few days.

Also, Spool time....it takes a second or two for the turbine to spool up before boost is produced, hence that feeling of the car lunging ahead when the turbo spools up.

A supercharger is connected directly to the crank pulley, so you are able to produce boost without the lag time. The root and screw type superchargers are able to create boost at an even lower rpm range. The supercharger does not create backpressure because it has no interference with the exhaust system. Because it is attached to the crank pulley, it is a little counter productive, though...sapping a little bit of the power that you are adding.
