Boosted Zetec

I was wondering if most guys SC or Turboing their Zetecs rebuild their engines or just slap the FI on? If you just put a SC or Turbo on your car would last for long right?

Not true ^^ If the tune is right and the boost isn't too high the engine will last... The stock parts have their limits, but there are plenty of folks out there around or over 200 HP on stock internals.

i agree, its all in the tune as far as safety and reliability are concerned. ive been putting down between 180-200whp for a year and a half or 28k mi. only issues are fouled ho2s every 6mo or so cause im running real fat. no powertrain or drivetrain issues, all bone stock. my clutch is even holding decently but im definitely running out of material, planning to get a new disc/pp soon.

So could at least change the rods so I could make more boost. Is the most common thing that could go wrong would be the rods breaking?

Most guys I belive are just running on stock internals with over 200whp. Down the raod you amy have to if get a little wild but a safe tune you should just fine

IMO it would be a waste of time to just change the rods. You will want rods, pistons, a good set of rings, main caps depending on your power goal, balanced rotating assembly etc etc. Then you don't want to put a stock head on this nice fresh built motor so you might as well slap on one of Tom's heads or a FR head. Before you know it you've just spent $3500-$4000 on the motor alone. Either do it all out or stay stock and deal with 200-240 whp.
