Exclamation Calling it quits on the SVT

Well, I've decided to stop the pursuit of more power in my SVT..... AFTER I install the SnowPerformance Stage 2 kit this weekend and the next generation intake from Tom.

330whp is enough... for now.

I'll be "Focusing" my attention on my NEW project...

A RED 1968 Ford Mustang Coupe with the 289 V-8 and 3 speed automatic. 87,000 original miles, original drive train, no AC. The body is in GREAT shape and so its the interior and drive train.

First step... pull 289 and install 351W and a Tremec 5speed.

Stoping at 330?? Oh come on keep going, no sence in only doubling stock. Sounds like a good new project.

351 W ..makes great power but they are tall and heavy!! Do a DSS 331 stroker motor from the 5.0 scene. It makes better power and the 331 is very reliable, much better than the 347. It will be lighter and faster!

Viney your kidding right , The 351W with the stock compression and same heads will KILL the smaller 331 inch stroker

TQ alone will be at least 50 more pound foot , Weight between the 2 engines is only about 60lbs

The reason the 5.0 scene does not do more 351W swaps isnt because of weightits because the 351 parts cost so much more than the 5.0 and there isnt a lot of room with the wider 351

In the older cars 351W is the only way to go other than a 460

Tom

I believe it could, but right now I'm not gonna retune it.

After all we've more than doubled to output of the motor and Tom has greatly exceeded my expectations of how much power it produces AND it drives like stock

When the next intake is done and we put it on it'll get retuned then and we'll see how much ASS this thing has

Okay, I"ll defer to you as the expert on this one.. I have had a couple mustangs. and the I wasn't thinking of the older cars, you are right that they fit much better. Really? Only 60 lbs. difference between the two? I thought it was more.

yea id put a 351w because of the uber amount of torque that they make. the weight is not gonna make a difference when he is making 50-75 more foot pounds of torque.
