Lightbulb homemade 2.3 turbo manifold

would it be possable to remove the factory flexpipe and connect the turbo there....maybe with some kind of adapter?whats everyones thought on this?I know the factory manifold wouldnt flow very well but for a low boost street kit would it work?

There isn't enough room after the cat. And you wouldn't want to destroy your factory manifold because they go for 1,700 bucks new.

Here is what I started with. Bring it to a welding shop if you can't weld it yourself.

Important note that I found out the hard way. Do not a focus 2.3 style exhaust manifold gasket with this flange. I had a leak which forced me to disassemble the system to replace. Use a gasket from 2001 - 2005 ranger with a 2.3. Non california emissions.

i wasnt going to cut or weld on my manifold just bolt to it...there are 2 cats on our cars right?one in the header and one after...could you remove the flex and cat and have room...welding is not a problem i took it in school and have a small mig machine but i wanted to be able to remove the turbo at a moments notice...and save some cash...does anyone have a pic of the exhaust from under the car?i havnt got a good look at it my car sits LOW,i can barely reach under to change the oil

Just wondering if the manifold from the Mazdaspeed 6 would fit? It is a ford 2.3l engine. May be able to source one from Mazda.

I have allways said budget and turbo should never be used in the same sentence , A budget turbo kit allways adds up to be more costly that a good quality kit
