Anyone have a Vortech SC on their SVT?

Does anyone have a Vortech S/C on their SVT? Preferably with the Aftercooler. I'd like to know how they like it? What it feels like in terms of Power? Have they dyno'd it? Does anyone have a 1/4m time or 0-60 time? How's the clutch hold up? etc......

Basically, I'm looking at getting a Vortech S/C with Aftercooler and am wondering what to expect. I live at a high elevation (5200ft) so I know this will effect the overall power output a bit but to me that just means my clutch may last a little bit longer.

Anyways, anyone that has one, please chime in.

Thanks

Your elevation is the best reason for getting some kind of FI - because FI cars don't suffer from power loss to speak of at higher elevations, while NA cars all do.

hmm thas very interesting, i dint kno it varied based on FI or N/A applications. i thought it was just the higher elevation yu go, the less power is gained...

please explain why FI doesnt suffer from power loss "to speak" im curious to kno... thanx

^^^ Your tuning must be up to spec. at high altitudes. But any car will suffer at higher elevations. Cars need O2 and the higher u go the less u will get.

The numbers u see claimed by either a turbo or supercharger is rated at lower elevations. That's why the key to success with any FI is having proper tuning, at any altitude!

well the stock clutch SUCKS. haha. it blew it fast for me. just a couple things. the staft that goes arcoss the motor. may start to vibrate by the fast rmps, it is hard to balance them out.

they make good power. just hard to keep it cool here in florida. i dont know about you up there.

otherwise i like the kit from what i saw. just to much for me. i had a jrsc. runnig around 10psi w\ acholy.

that's my 2cents

The mass airflow sensor measures the mass of the air going into the intake, and tells the injectors to meter out the right amount of fuel. In a high-altitude area, air density is lower - this is why people who are not used to high altitudes get winded more easily there, and why airplanes that fly at high altitudes usually pressurize their cabins to the same air density as lower elevations. In a car, the lower air density will result in less fuel, so the car will not make as much power.

In an FI application, the turbo- or supercharger makes up for the lower density by providing more air mass by compressing it beyond the ambient atmospheric pressure. Strictly speaking, even an FI engine will suffer some power loss at high elevations, but it's very slight - for example, in lower air density conditions, the turbo- or supercharger will build boost slightly slower and the waste gate (which dumps excess pressure to keep boost within specs for that application) will stay closed for longer before venting.

By the way, this is why all piston-engined aircraft that fly at high altitudes have some kind of FI.
