What kind of power are you looking for? My general answer to these type of questions is T3 Super60 (good to 300 or so). In the GT arena, you can look at GT28RS (good to 350 and spool up is great to decent depending on A/R). But the super60 I think is a very good inexpensive turbo for this car.

If your looking for really big power, I like the GT3071R. Seems like a decent spooling turbo and supports up to 450whp. I think Tom will have some suggestions here as well.

What type of turbo flange are you using? T3?

It all depends what your going for. But if he wants big power. For decent power I have to second gt28rs, very nice turbo from what I hear.

Why would you ever get the GT42R??? Spool up would be over 5K, and your shifts would drop you out of the power band so you'd have to wait for spool up again.

For huge power. I think if you revved motor past 8 grand you'd be alright aas far as rpms droping down on shift, also for a drag car or something just don't take foot off gas when you should, I would think turbo would stay spooled.

haha well chances of me reaching 400hp are pretty damn slim with albquerques alititude.

but I love how the .42 kicks in with VERY short lag but I dont like how it stops giving me more power around 5k, what would be a good turbo for my my need, that could yield up to 300- 350hp. I would love if i could maintain a quick spool but have some serious hp as well
