JRSC, 3" pulley, stock tensioner

When upgrading to a smaller 3" on the SVT kit is it necessary to upgrade to a better tensioner? I know that the 03-04 Cobras go to s Metco Idler I think. Is this applicable on the SVT Focus as well? The reason for me asking this is when I go WOT I start to lose boost in the upper RPM's, and I can hear the belt slipping. I have been using a Gatorback for about 3 months now and it is starting to slip.
