Pyrometer ?

Whare is the best place to put the probe for a pyrometer. Manifold/ Downpipe

I'm thinking on the manafold but If that's right wich Cyl would you put it in line with? If I remember corectly problems with heat/lean usualy show up on one cyl. before another..Wich one?

its the third cylinder because thats the the one that sparks the first, also that is a reference to the EGT.

No. 3 cylinder. For some reason that's the one that you need to watch closely as it has caused some issues on other Foci, mine included. You don't need to send a rod through the block like me, lol.

wil you explain to me what happend to your 3rd cyl?
Rod knock? Factory issues?

I believe when there is a lean condition it somtimes shows up on the 3rd cyl first when the a/f goes lean burning holes in pistons,detonation,bad stuff.....I asume if there was a problem with another injector or anything else it could happen on another piston first.

Don't write this down in stone or anything but this is the best I can figure from checking out what other people have already done by this forum and others.
What I can't figure out is why it doesent happen on all cylinders equaly but it seems like there is a trouble spot.
