I have been looking at the Powerworks for my base ZX5, and have run across the Powerworks package for the SVT. It looks very impressive, and definately worthy of consideration for an S/C. Powerworks does a great job of intercooling, a sometimes lost art with Focus S/C. That's where you see huge gains vs. JRSC or Stage 1 Vortech.

The only issue I see with the SVT Powerworks kit is that they still haven't released tq and hp curves due to its introduction coming in August. I would wait to see those before placing an order, as peak tq and hp aren't as critical as usable power and torque. Four bangers like ours need as much torque as low as possible to help out their displacement shortcomings.

I will say that I would expect the same great performance that comes out of the non-SVT kit. Just wait to confirm it with their published numbers. Good luck... I am currently saving up for FI, with the Powerworks kit high on my list.

although im sure the powerworks kit will be great...the Vortech based kit is a staple for supercharging. centrifigual blowers are bullet proof and produce AMAZING power with little boost and no intercooling( although its a better choice for the long wrong if you plan on upping the boost)

Ive found some rather inexpensive kits for 3k or a little below that depending on where you are buying it...im sure youve looked at the same ones. the Vortec kits arent that much more then the JRSC kits and they have an air/water intercooler.

id go with the vortec

i have a question about the powerworks kit...now it is my understanding that you mail your stock computer to them and they send it back to you flashed with their tune so that the car runs perfect with the sc...now my question is if you already have say an sct chip with different programs ei custom idles, rev limiters and the such could you use both with no problems or would you be stuck with just the powerworks flash?

ummm to tell you the truth i have no clue. but if i had to pick one id say no. because the SCT tune takes all the info off the chip and then writes on the blank chip. so that would involve taking all the powerworks info off your chip to tune it with the SCT. what i would do is call powerworks and ask them to add in the custom idles, and rev limiters to whatever you want.

Powerworks wont do any custom changes , the dont remove speed or RPM from what i understand and NO you cannot use both tunes , you also have to have everything else on your car stock engine and bolt on wise because the PW tunes is only for stock equipment
