Help ! ! ! ! ! ! Send Me Your Tunes

I had my laptop crash and i lost the tune files for about the last 6 months , The hard drive is being sent to a company to see if they can get the info back (hard drive is dead)

So if everyone that i have sent any kind of file to can send them back i can back up your copy that way

And yes i backed up my files monthly to a ZIP drive but have never tested them to see it it worked to reload them and for some reason the new ZIP drive i bought i cannot get the files off of the disc

So PLEASE send me your files ASAP

Thanks
Tom

well, with my working at staples in the electronics department and all, i have a trick you might try.

get one of your friends computers and get it all set up. Look at the jumpers on your friends hard drive (the little pins on the back) and set the drive to master, or MA. basically it shorts a connection so the HD knows what it is running as. Take your HD out of the case and unplug it from everything, and set the jumper to slave or SL. now it the weird part. Toss the hard drive into the freezer for 2 or 3 hours!! make sure it is in there at least 2 hours.
Now i'm going to tell you why it makes sense to freeze it so you dont think i'm crazy. all the hard drive is, is a metal disk with a needle reading the info, (think of it like a record player) when it gets to hot everything expands and the needle will get out of line, so when you freeze it it all gets smaller and most of the time the needle will move back into place.

after the 2-3 hours take it out and plug it into your friends computer. the ribbon, or cable that his hard drive is plugged into will have 3 plug in spots. 1 spot connected to the motherboard, on is connected to his hard drive, so plug yours into the last open spot on the SAME CABLE that his hard drive is on.

Turn on the computer.

When it is on click on "my computer"

His harddrive will be the "c" drive, yours will be "d" or "e" or some other letter, click on your drive and search through the files until you find stuff that you need and put them on his hard drive

Your hard drive will only work like that for an hour or so then it will crash again because when they get so hot again the needle will pop back out.

Then once you get a new HD hook it up to his computer the same way as before, move the files to your HD from his, and you have you files back.

when you put your new HD back in your computer make sure to put the jumper back to cable select "cs" or master "ma" so it will work in your computer

there is a small chance that this wont work, but i'd say about 95% of the time it does.
I hope it works for you
good luck!

If you have any question PM me
or easier just e-mail me at magic2119@aol.com

Jon

P.S. if it works, you can give me the money you were going to give the other people to get the stuff off! lol
