Frankenstein Turbo kit Aerocharger w/T3

I am about ready to mate an Aerocharger Stage 3 kit with a T3 .48 A/R. Maybe some other Aerocharger guys can answer these questions:

1. I have a Pro-M mass air, and i was wondering if I should attempt tuning it, or leave it at stock settings? Meaning will it conflict with the Aerocharger Supplemental system?

2. What is the max boost that is safe on the aerocharger kit? Im debating whether to ditch the Aerocharger setup and get 42lbs injectors with FMU, but i would rather not considering i spent good money on this kit.

3. I know that the Aerocharger kit comes with a high/low boost setting. Does this have anything to do with the Fuel management comp? My guess is that it just controls the wastegate and the SFMS goes off mass air and other signals.

4. I have 8 19lbs. Mustang GT injectors sitting around. Would it be beneficial to replace my stock injectors with these units, or will that just totally screw with everything.

Thanks a lot for the help.

1. what size is the Pro-M? 70mm would be the best
2. with the aerocharger turbo overspool is somewhere just past 12 psi(but I am sure that it won't last long right around 12 either)
3. The high low boost setting has nothing to do with the tuning for the most part.. If you go with the pro m 70mm get some 42# injectors and either a custom burnt chip or sct or something comparable and make sure you have it TUNED ( I blew my engine by not tuning it right).
4. If you can fit eight injectors in your focus, you have something special.. But seriously I think the stockers are 19#'s.. Go with the 42's , a chip, and 70mm maf..
good luck

ForceFedFocus, You need to stick with some one that knows how to tune the Focus

The AC 5th injectors like any added 5th or 6th injector is junk

The Focus is allready 19lb injectors , you will need for proper tuning 42lb injrctors a MAF that is calibrated for the 42`s range and a custom chip to make it all work safely , Do this and it will live

The MAF is 70mm I am pretty sure. I thought the stock injectors were 16 lbs?? Ohh well. I have an optimizer for my MAF so i can tune it myself. I know a Superchips dealer. Do they offer a good turbo burn?? The problem is there is nobody who knows how to tune the Focus where i live. I go to the local import shops and nobody knows what the hell they are talking about. Im like "i have a Supplemental Fuel Management System" and they are like "Let me go get Chad..." And Chad says"Let me go get Gary..." and then Gary tells me he doesnt know what I am talking about. So i have given up and decided that i dont trust anyone to do it but myself. If I screw it up then at least i learned something, and i have nobody to blame but myself.

What is the best fuel system. FMU?? I know I should get a stand alone ECU, but i am going to be running 7 lbs, so im not ready to make that commitment.

What about the Aerocharger kit is crap?? It seems like a lot of people are running it without a problem.

Thanks a lot for the ideas.

QUOTE "I have an optimizer for my MAF so i can tune it myself

Not realy the optimizer isnt for tuning the MAF this needs to be done in a chip or you will run into many issues

There is no way around doing a chip for boost on a Focus and it living or being safe

QUOTE "i have a Supplemental Fuel Management System"

I`m guessing your talking about the 5th injector or the Optimizer , Neither are for tuning

QUOTE "What is the best fuel system. FMU??

The Focus has a returnless fuel system so the FMU wouldnt work

QUOTE "I know I should get a stand alone ECU, "

Not realy the SCT ProRacer will do more than a standalone and only cost 750.00 from me and comes with a Raptor scan tool as well

I dont have $750 to spend. A Supplemental Fuel Management System is exactly that (the 5th injector supplements the fuel system). The optimizer I have allows me to tune everything that they can by sending the MAF to Pro-M. I know i cant tune timing, etc. with this. What is the contol unit for the 5th injector used for? I guess I assumed that was some sort of chip because that is what Aerocharger said. I guess i dont understand why if they are junk, then why is it that people are running them without problem, and at only 7 lbs I think that a 5th injector would easily keep up.

Ohh by the way, I know it probably seems like I am arguing with you Tom, but just want to let you know that as always, I really appreciate your response. I am 18 on a college kid budget and I do everything myself. I figure if i blow the engine, then i learned something not to do next time. My car has gone through 65,000 miles of abuse that included a 75 shot of N2O, and hasnt had ANYTHING go wrong on the origional clutch. I have done absolutely everything myself, and i have a lot of faith in my abilities (thats not to say I dont need help!!) The way I see it, there is only one way to learn, right?

So, even if I seem a little stuborn sometimes. Thanks a lot!!

really?? A Garrett GT28R which is a popular swap for the Aerocharger is a .64 A/R i believe. I acually thought this was a rather conservative setup. I definitely could be wrong, since i am still learning the Turbo business.

gt28r is a ball bearing turbo, unlike the T3 that focus mang is talking about. Ball bearings will help with a fast spool
