Lightbulb supercharge or turbocharge???

I have an 01 zx3 and I plan on bolting on some BOOST. I was wondering whether a turbo or supercharger would be better. Any and all opinions welcome.

thanks, peter

Pete-

This is only my opinion---Both SCs and turbos boost air-fuel intake pressure to above atmospheric levels to get more power. The turbo uses exhaust gas to run the boost pump. The SC runs the pump directly off of the engine via a belt. The turbo is more complicated and needs more work to install (thus usually more expensive than the SC.) Both systems need additional engine mods (maf, injectors, intercooling, etc ) and a good tune to maximize their potential. The SC is more likely to maintain state emission requirements. The turbo usually can result in move torque and power than the SC. Personally ,when my warranty runs out (both SCs and Turbos will void the warranty) I am leaning to an SC, because I want to do the install myself, also, I am not looking for the 325 whp a turbo can do. In stock-block form, I think the duratec engine and powertrain can probably take up to 200 -225 whp with out self-destructing. I also want to maintain emission requirements. And recently , I heard a Jackson Racing SC on a 02 SVTF, and it had a nice sound to it. I suggest you read all of the posts and threads in the Forced-Inducton section. Some are very good ( but try to recognize some people who post that have a business or financial interest in one system or another. They do know alot, but there biased to there own products or services)

Hope that helps,
Bob

Check out the newly released SCs by Powerworks and Procharger. They will put you around 220bhp, or around 180- 200whp.

yea you lose a little with the pulley drive, more than you will with using exhaust to drive your boost, and whats the cost difference between the three...gotta take that into consideration! the stock engine can only handle so much too. iturbofocus i cannot locate what you are trying to show..yes turbos are better for bigger #,but i dont thing the cost ratio is there for what you can actually safely boost a stock zetec too.... jess

turbo's are cool but superchargers get you out the hole quicker. and the ford racing supercharger is the only way to go.
