What is aerocharger?

How much is a aerocharger turbo kit? Are there any differences between this kit and others? Do they have an official web site? How many people own one? Are they a good suggestion for those looking for FI?

Enough questions?

Thanks in advance for the input.

Aerochargers cost as much as you can get a used one for. They are different as far as turbo mounting position/a couple other things, but are technically the same. Aerodyne shut its doors a while ago, and Aerochargers are no longer produced. I bought mine, and now I am swapping the turbo for a T3 (or at least trying to), because its to expensive to buy another Aerocharger turbo. Hope this helps.

So it is a decent kit.. How much was one when Aerodyne was still around? Ive read a little about switching turbos with that kit but not much. Do you think it would be worth it to purchase one used? I find used Aerocharger kits everywhere,, Are they of higher risk to the engine than other kits? Are they easy to tune?

Also, are there any pics of what a full kit should look like spralled out?

the aerocharger was a quite popular kit when they were around and it is pretty decent. there were 3 stages:
1 - non-intercooled, cannot be upgraded
2 - non-intercooled, can be upgraded
3 - intercooled
what most owners found to be an issue is the poor internal wastegate and many have modified the exhaust and added an external one, not a big deal. tuning is like with any other turbo. the only other thing you need to know is that the aerodyne turbo has self-contained lubrication, you do not tap the oil pan, instead you need to buy special oil for it - you can get it here http://www.bellengineering.net/Pages..._aerodyne.html

i bought a stg3 some time ago, but don't have it installed yet. you should be able to find a used one under 2k.

I havent seen one. Just turbo, intercooler(if equipped), pretty much the normal stuff. The only thing different is the 5th injector mounted in the elbow above the throttle body and a couple other things. Other then that it just about looks like any other kit. Why do you want to see one?

That would be great, if you wouldnt mind. Just for comparison reasons, in case I decide to buy a used kit.

Also, are there instructions to installing the kit?

Oh, and what if a kit comes with a chip already tuned, how would you go about tuning it for your specifications? Who would do that? Would it "have" to be from someone who has FI'ted a Foci?
