check engine light

Since I got my s/c put on the check enging light has been on. The guy who installed the s/c said it was because the cat was stopped up, so I ordered the focus-central orp. I installed it Saturday and it is still on. I had it checked at autozone, and the code says it is " emissions misfiring". While driving down the road the car fells like the plugs are fouled out so I changed the plugs and it helped, but less than a day later they are back the same way.

I do not know what else it could be. This weekend I am going to get my car dyno tuned with the Diablo Predator, should I wait till this weekend, and maybe that will help?

Tuning should definitly help it out, if not remove your check engine light. Best of luck to ya, I hope you get it all figured out :)

Yeah, I got the mil eliminator, and I put in the reat o2 sensor where it goes, that part is correct for sure. The car runs great and pulls very strong, just the check engine light is on, and it kinda worries me because something is not right.

Yesterday I took it back to the place where I got the supercharger installed to hoolk up the a/f gauge and the egt gauge, the installer said that it could me a bad ecu box that came with the supercharger. Does any know of anyone having a problem with them?

Did you know what the exact code is? If you know the exact code, at least that would help ease your worries.

Go buy yourself an OBDII code reader. (Should cost about $100 US). It plugs into a port under the dash to the left of the driver seat. There is a small hiden door there.

When my check engine light came on, the code said "small trace of emission leak" so I ignored it. It turns out to be a pin hole on the hose somewhere which takes forever to find but not a big deal in the end. At least we knew where to start looking with the code .... funny what a dropped screw could damage when it is cold.

If you know what the code is, drop me a note and I can dig up my code documents. A code book usually came with the reader but I have a SVT Focus specific one.

I went to autozone for a free diagonistic test and the code came up saying emissions misfiring, I don't remember what code number it was. I heard "through the grape vine" that the little black box that comes with the Jackson Racing s/c, some people have had problems with them. So, I'm not really worried about it because I am planning to get the s/c tuned in this week. Right now I runs good and pulls strong. The only problems are that it is running rich and fouls out plugs.

If you know the code, let me know. I have the book. AS for running rich ... watch out, you don't want too much pressure in the cyclinder.

if it's running rich and fouling the plugs...that's your problem. if the car says it's got a misfire...that's where it is. get that baby tuned with SCT or Diablo. get rid of the black box and get it done right

Inexpensive OBDII Code Reader

Hi guys.

I couldn't stand taking my car in just to get codes at Autozone or whatever! I found a a pretty good web page (www.diydiagnostics.com). I ordered one of the scanners and was able to get the trouble code, fix my car, and shut off the engine light with it....BY MYSELF!. It really worked well! Seems like a pretty good price at $54.99 plus about 4 bucks for shipping. Pretty simple tool that works great! It gives you more control over viewing/clearing codes than some others. Plus, it has a nice length cord so that you don't have to spend time with your head underneath your dashboard. It says it Works on 1996 and newer GM, Ford, Chrysler, Nissan, Toyota, Honda, and some others. No computer required. It also comes with a handy code booklet to tell you what the codes mean. Thought you might find it helpful....

Oh, and there used to be an offer that if you mentioned where you heard of the item, you got a $7 discount. It wouldn't hurt to ask about it.
